Police shooting suspect captured on officer's dash cam footage

An Alaska police officer was shot by an unidentified assailant caught on dashboard camera video.

Sgt. Allen Brandt was on patrol in Fairbanks when the gunman opened fire early Sunday and hit him multiple times.

The Fairbanks police department released footage of the suspect as he approached Brandt’s car, which he then allegedly stole but abandoned a few minutes later.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, is seen holding an object that appears to be a gun.

Sgt. Allen Brandt was in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Brandt, an 11-year police veteran responding to a call of shots fired, sustained serious injuries but was in stable condition as of early Monday morning.

Fairbanks police said that the suspect is still at large, and considered armed and dangerous.
